You may have heard the term ‘composite front door’ but what exactly does that mean? How are they different to the traditional wooden front door, or popular PVC front doors?

Composite doors are manufactured with an engineered timber core. This engineered timber is manufactured from several layers of timber laminated together (our composite doors are 17 layers), eliminating the chance of the timber warping. Our composite doors are 48mm thick (which is 10% thicker than most composite doors) and this thickness gives the door it’s strength and excellent insulation properties. Composite doors are an ideal combination of natural materials with modern manufacturing and finishing, so that you get the best of both worlds.

Our composite doors have excellent U-values, a choice of superb factory finishes, and are available in classic (e.g Victorian), traditional (e.g. shiplap panels) and also some sleek modern designs. There is definitely something to suit any home. They are also all made to measure, so they can fit any sized opening, and can be finished in a large range of colours to suit your personal taste.

The advantages over a ‘normal’ wooden front door are that our doors come complete with a fully draught sealed PVC-u frame so you will not experience any draughts. They come with a concealed integrated moisture barrier system at the bottom of the door to prevent water ingress and maintain the integrity of the door, and a choice of factory fitted accessories – so that your door is fully customised before it reaches you and the quality of the factory finish is maintained.

Composite doors are undoubtedly stronger then PVC front doors, and aesthetically are more appealing as they are flush finished (rather than having a PVC panel with a design ‘clipped in’ to the outer framework of the door panel).
